15 chili masters will vie to win the title of the Best South Bay Chili
Competitors should register on-line in advance of the competition, to ensure that they are among the 15 competitors. Both amateur and professional chefs are welcome to participate. Contestants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
“Anything goes” as far as ingredients. With or without beans, with or without meat, etc. Just bring on your signature chili!
There is a NON-REFUNDABLE competition fee of $25 per entry.
Before registration, all competitors MUST familiarize themselves with the rules as well as educate themselves as to safe and sanitary cooking and handling of food. Please direct any questions regarding the rules to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Judging will be limited to a total of 20 community judges in addition to up to 4 celebrity judges, so REGISTER EARLY for membership in the Judging Society ($10 registration fee). Judges will receive special wristbands at the entrance to the competition arena in order to judge.
9:00-10:00amCompetitors drop off supplies near the Community Plaza stage, park at Peninsula High School and take shuttle to the event, receive their space assignment and entry kit, set up cooking station
10:00am Chefs begin cooking
10:00am-2:00pm Judges check in and collect their judges wristband
2:00pm Cooking ends; entries set up in Judging Tent
2:00-3:00pm Competitors clean up and pack up
2:30pm Judges' scores are tallied
5:00pm Winners announced; ribbons presented
By registering to compete in this event, contestants agree to have any photos or videos taken of them at the event to be used for promotional purposes.
